Four Books?

Right now, at this point in time, I’m working on three books, the fourth will be started as soon as I get some information from the person I am co-writing it with. Am I crazy? My concentration level is basically zero lately and I’m writing four books at the same time? And this doesn’t include the book I’ve been working on for years, which I wrote about yesterday.

The first is the second book in The Edge Series. It takes place about a month after the ending ofThe Forgotten Edge. It will cover what Andrews and Levy do with the information they were given at the end of the first book. It will also throw a few surprises at the characters and the readers. Of course, this all depends on me actually finishing it. I was shooting to have the rough done by this past Christmas. Not so much. I have barely started the book with only around 12000 words so far.

The second book is a pure survival story. I’ve written around 5000 words on it. I’m really still trying to flesh out the story, but if it goes in the direction I think, it will be pretty damn good.

Let me pause here and explain how I write. I do not outline stories. I know that some writers have to have that structure, but it stifles my creativity. I am a free flow writer. I write what comes into my mind as I am writing. Sometimes what I write is pure garbage and I spend the next day deleting what I wrote. Sometimes it’s good and I go from there. This all doesn’t mean I don’t have some idea where I want to go with the story, I usually know the beginning, some of the middle and the end in my mind, it’s all the other stuff that I have no idea where it will go. While writing The Forgotten Edge, I found myself smiling as I wrote, because what was coming off my fingers was a pure surprise, the end on it was a real shocker.

The third book is a Post Apocalyptic story that maybe 500 words have been written on. I woke up in the middle of the night about a month or so ago and wondered what I would do if I woke up one day and no one else was there. This story is still mulling around in my brain, so there isn’t a whole lot more to tell on it.

The fourth book is going to be a Steampunk story that takes place on another world. In the story there are two distinct groups of people. My co-writer is going to take one of those groups and I will take the other. Until I get some more out of my partner on this, it is his story idea, that’s about all I can say on it.

So, four books.

Am I crazy?

You tell me down in the comments section.

About

Hi, My name is Jamie Dodge. I am a full time writer and a full time caregiver. I generally write science fiction, but will dabble in almost anything, I can't write romance to save my life. I was born and raised in Central Florida into a large Italian family. The youngest by four years I had the advantage of being taught to read by the time I was 3. I don't think a day had gone by since then, where I haven't had a book in my hands at some point. One day I figured I would try my hand at it, so I wrote my first novel, The Forgotten Edge. I always get asked why I use the profile picture I do. I wish I could tell you, but I can't. It is a promise I made a few years ago, and I will honor it until I am given permission not to. That's it. That's me. I hope you enjoy my ramblings about my writing process and the other things that I find interesting.
